THEY’VE GOT THE LOOK

One of Sweden’s most successful musical exports, Roxette shot to fame in the ’80s and ’90s with chart topping singles such as It Must Have Been Love, Joyride and The Look. The legendary pop duo will relive those glory days next February when Roxette returns to the live circuit for an Australian tour that will take in Challenge Stadium on Thursday, February 23. THIRD TIME LUCKY

In what is undoubtedly one of the must see tours of the year, trip hop pioneers Portishead have announced they’ll be returning to Australia for the first time in 14 years. With their first album in 11 years coming out in 2008 in the form of Third, it’s understandable that it’s taken them a further three years to make it our way. They’ll take to the picturesque surrounds of Belvoir Amphitheatre on Tuesday, November 15, with extra special guests Mercury Rev in support. Tickets go on sale this Friday, August 26, from Ticketmaster.

After a meteoric success this year so far, Jebediah are pleased to announce that they’ll be performing a final string of shows across our lovely country in November – aptly titled their Battle For November Tour. It’s been a busy year for Jebediah, who released Koscuiszko and went on a massive national tour, ripping up stages at Batemans Bay, Broome, Margaret River and Mt Hotham, just to name a few places. The line-up is finally here and boy is it a cracker. Headlining Summadayze 2012 will be the lovely lads Pendulum. Well it depends who you ask really. Snoop Dogg will also be making an appearance, hopefully with his super hot white gloves like he did at Supafest earlier this year. The Scissor Sisters, Calvin Harris, Grandmaster Flash, Erick Morillo, Sasha, Markus Schulz, Tiga, Skream & Benga, Busy P, DJ Medhi, Jack Beats (live), Moby (DJ set), Flying Lotus, Seth Troxler, Spank Rock, Mighty Fools and In Flagranti will all be smashing out beats. SOUNDWAVE REVOLUTION CANCELLED!!

The popular Soundwave Revolution festival due to come to Perth on October 3 has reportedly been cancelled. Don’t believe us? They’ve even posted an announcement on their website. The announcement of the second line-up was postponed several times until finally organisers announced there wasn’t going be be one, and the show was cancelled.

Some bands may still come to tour in Australia anyway, so keep your ears open just in case.

JESSE “THE DEVIL” HUGHES TO RELEASE DEBUT ALBUM

Eagles of Death Metal frontman Jesse “The Devil” Hughes is branching out solo and will celebrate the release of his debut album Honkey Kong when it is released on September 23.

The Album, by DangerbirdRecords/CoOperative Music was produced by Toney Hoffer (Beck, Depeche Mode) and has been co-written with popular keyboardist Money Mark (Beastie Boys).

Hughes is launching the album as ‘Boots Electric’, and is also including a ‘Boots electric Theme’ as one of the tracks. His album is a mix of new sounds, as well as those that he is best known for. From honest to goodness ballads to keyboard-heavy dance grooves, the debut album reveals Hughes’ inner pop songwriting techniques.
