Vinyl Retention: Four Tet

Wednesday, September 5th, 2012

Every Wednesday, Sardi lets us know what’s tickling his eardrums in the world of dance music…

Four TetThe latest Four Tet LP literally slipped under the radar for a lot of people, including myself. It wasn’t until I heard a track and asked what it was that I found out that Kieran Hebden had released a new album. No fanfare, no promo — just music.

Comprised mainly of six previously released singles and two new cuts, the LP is a natural progression from his extremely well received 2010 record There Is Love In You. Think repetitive hypnotic hooks and shuffling drum grooves laid out over nine minutes apiece and you have Pink.

Starting and ending on a bang, ‘Locked’ and ‘Pinnacles’ are the standouts for me, with the prior being the closing track on his awesome Fabric Live Mix CD.

A worthy addition to the collection, especially if you haven’t kept up with the singles.

If you like what you hear, be sure to tune in to RTRFM’s Full Frequency between 3pm and 5pm, as Sardi and Dart explore the world of Drum and Bass and beyond.
