Every Wednesday, Sardi lets us know what’s tickling his eardrums in the world of electronic music…
Alix Perez’s 2009 debut LP ‘1984’, was a landmark release, not just for the talented young artist, but for the Shogun Audio label and D&B genre itself. It established him as a main player in the scene, cemented Shogun’s signature sound and took Drum & Bass into deeper territories.
Four years on and we’re presented with his sophomore release, again on the Shogun imprint, titled ‘Chroma Chords’. With less fast paced tunes and more music reminiscent of his Arp101 alias, Alix delivers an impeccable release showing his diversity and maturity as a producer and musician.
In the words of Alix himself….
“Essentially, ‘Chroma Chords’ is a snapshot of my past, present and future. It encapsulates a sonic translation of experiences, influences and genuine emotion.
Without straying too far from the work I’m previously known for, it’s a testament to experimentation, development and a display of things to come.
While revisiting preceding ground yet touching on new avenues, my point with ‘Chroma Chords’ is to defy preconceptions while staying true to my sound and identity. Whatever the listener’s interpretation.“
‘Chroma Chords’ is out on May 20th.
