The remix is an interesting phenomenon. At its worst, it’s a lazy attempt to make a song more danceable. At its best, it’s a subtle but nonetheless substantial alteration in a song’s feel, taking the track in a totally different direction, while maintaining the essence of what made the original so good.
Take a listen to the track “Bad Friends”, as remixed by Collarbones and Vorad Fils (aka John Hassell from Seekae). It’s an interesting exercise in just how far apart two electronic artists can take a track in the remix process.
