You can actually survive in space without a spacesuit for far longer than you think (according to this calculator, I’d survive for over a minute). Anyway, my point is that if someone had to compose music for me to listen to in that situation, I’d probably choose Craig McElhinney — I think there’s something about the unique mix of the unsettling and the hypnotic that would fit right in (up to the point where my blood literally started boiling — then, not so much).

McElhinney’s new release, Complainer Orientation is best listened to in conditions of total sensory isolation from the rest of the world. It’s dark, and flits between long periods of crushing ambient sprawl and brief flirtations with melody. It’s damn good.
