Vinyl Retention: Letherette

Wednesday, March 20th, 2013

Every Wednesday, Sardi lets us know what’s tickling his eardrums in the world of electronic music…

The Wolverhampton duo known as Letherette teased us with the Featurette EP late last year. Fast forward a few months and the pair are set to release their self titled debut LP on the seminal Ninja Tune label.

If you were to describe the album in visual terms, it would look like a sine wave. It quite literally goes up and down in two full cycles, kicking things off in an upbeat manner, then gently slowing down both the tempo and mood followed by a rinse and repeat.

Expect funky synth workouts injected with a sense of ‘80s fun best reflected in the opening track ‘After Dawn’. Think groovy 4×4 drums with elements of post Dubstep and experimental ambience thrown in the mix. It’s a well-crafted and brilliantly executed debut that will win hearts on the dance floor and in the lounge room.

If you like what you hear, be sure to tune in to RTRFM’s Full Frequency between 3pm & 5pm, as Sardi and Dart explore the latest beats & bass from around the globe.
