Album Review: Pyromesh – Biologic

Monday, August 19th, 2013

Pyromesh - BiologicWith the rise of extreme metal, bands shifted their focus towards unusual structures and tonalities, technical virtuosity and the never-ending search for even more extreeeeeme and brutal heaviness. It’s a shame, because many of the acts that inspired modern metal […]

Pyromesh Launch Biologic at Amplifier

Sunday, August 18th, 2013

pyromesh-2013As of August 23rd, Amplifier Bar may as well be a black hole, because the lineup for the launch of local metal legends PYROMESH‘s second studio album, Biologic, is so friggin’ heavy, it’s bending space-time. TUSK open the evening with […]

Vinyl Retention: Machinedrum

Wednesday, August 14th, 2013

Every Wednesday, Sardi lets us know what’s tickling his eardrums in the world of electronic music…

Machinedrum’s latest single ‘Eyesdontlie’ is a stark and minimal take on the Drumstep sound and is a precursor of what we can expect when he unleashes his new LP Vapor City next month on the seminal Ninja Tune imprint.

Featuring a thumping fusion of kick drum accentuated sub bass hits and half time breaks, ‘Eyesdontlie’ hits hard and carries a distinctly eerie tone throughout with use of pitch shifted vocals and haunting atmospherics. There’s even a nod to mid nineties Jungle with fluffy piano pads making an appearance in the mid section.

Hopefully the rest of the album is of the same caliber as I can’t seem to move past this song. It’s firmly on repeat.

If you like what you hear, be sure to tune in to RTRFM’s Full Frequency between 3pm & 5pm, as Sardi and Dart explore the latest beats & bass from around the globe.

The line in front of Metropolis stretched into the distance like a Grecian dole queue, austerity and righteous indignation replaced with Australia’s progressive metal finest and electric anticipation. Every ten minutes, a […]
