DON’T RESIST

Sydney metallurgists, Resist The Thought formed in 2007 with a view to meld bone crushing breakdowns with fast, technical riffs and create a new brand of modern metal. Now their wish comes to fruition with the release of their debut album, Damnation, hitting shelves on May 7. Resist The Thought will return to Perth to perform at The Den (Civic Hotel) on Saturday, May 22, and YMCA HQ for all-ages on Sunday May 23.

THE STRUNG ONES

With a new album, Agents Of The Underground, proving that they’re here to stay, Strung Out have hit the road and will soon be in Australia, joined by Philadelphia’s The Loved Ones. KIDS IN AUSTRALIA

Sydney’s Cassette Kids released their debut album, Nothing On TV, this week.   The former triple j Unearthed winners recently played at SXSW in Austin, performed UK showcases gigs, supported La Roux and The Presets around Australia, and will now kick off their own headline tour in June. HAVE HOPE

The lovely frontwoman of Mazzy Star, Hope Sandoval is packing her bags for her first ever solo tour of Australia. Sandoval shot to fame in the ’80s thanks to the success of Mazzy Star and has gone from strength to strength, with two fantastic solo albums. Catch Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions when they take to the stage of the Astor Theatre on Monday, June 28. Tickets are on sale now from BOCS.

SONIC ‘YOUTH

Well-received in Perth at last year’s One Movement conference, Midnight Youth are set to release their debut album, The Brave Don’t Run, on May 21 then take off on a national tour in support of Perth’s Birds Of Tokyo. Sweet songstress Lucie Thorne is making waves on the Australian music scene thanks to her striking lyrics and dark folk sound.
