Craig’s List: Paula Temple

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2014

Every fortnight, RTRFM’s Craig Hollywood will bring us a little taste of what to expect from Tuesday’s Full Frequency…

Paula Temple returns to R&S with her second release Deathvox EP, featuring three tracks as exciting and daring as her superb debut Colonized EP.

‘Deathvox’ is a club shaking, wild and imaginative tour de force, featuring her voice transformed like nothing on earth. ‘Monstro’ presents a half-speed techno industrial explosion fitting for a Nine Inch Nails mosh pit. ‘Ful’ completes the epic journey with synth melodic richness you might expect from Karen Gwyer or Nathan Fake.

Deathvox EP is the work of an inspired mind, citing her recent move to Berlin and working with progressive artists on her label Noise Manifesto as major influences on the craft of this record. Bringing together her love of post-punk, industrial noise and synthesizers, Paula Temple broadens her scope of the techno spectrum and sets her own mark yet again in this uncompromising release.

Deathvox will be released on Belgium’s R&S Records on October 27.

Craig’s List: Kwartz

Tuesday, September 9th, 2014

Every fortnight, RTRFM’s Craig Hollywood will bring us a little taste of what to expect from Tuesday’s Full Frequency…

After his debut on Pole Group last year with the track ‘Hate’ selected for the compilation release Unknown Landscapes — EP 1, Kwartz makes a return to the label with Form and Void EP. Hailing from Madrid, DJ and producer Kwartz started his career in 2011 and within a fairly short time has developed and refined his own hypnotic, dark and enveloping techno. Amongst notable releases to date is his first vinyl EP Fenomen, a joint release with Pole Group artist Exium on their Nheoma imprint.

Form and Void EP features two strong originals and two equally powerful remix supports from the label mates and core members of Pole Group, Reeko and Exium. The title track ‘Form and Void’ kicks off with straight forward 4/4 rhythmic groove that gradually builds up layer by layer in to the darker shade to meet the mysterious break, followed by heavy brooding bass tones slashing through the kick drums, deepening the atmosphere with the hollowing echoes. Reeko’s remix elevates the dark mood of original while pumping in even more energy with rolling kick/hat combo and psychedelic swirling chaos of synth that intensifies throughout the entire length of the track.

Form & Void EP will be released on Pole Group on 15 September.

Subfield will be home to his forthcoming artist productions as well as others and will span the full range of electronic music. SF001 features 3 Mugwump productions. Craig’s List: Alma Construct

Tuesday, August 12th, 2014

Every fortnight, RTRFM’s Craig Hollywood will bring us a little taste of what to expect from Tuesday’s Full Frequency…

R&S Records introduce the hugely talented new signing Alma Construct to the world for his debut self-titled EP. From the throbbing bounce of Balearic opener ‘On The Edge, Surrounded With The Shores Of Assudrey’ to the menacing hum and snarl of ‘Deer Drink From The River’, it’s clear that Alma Construct music is wildly ambitious and expressive.

Taking inspiration from La Planète Sauvage — a 70s stop-motion science fiction allegory by René Laloux, his music conjures up finite visions through caustic timbres and enigmatic melodies. On the flip ‘Imagine Them’ scores out gritty industrial beats, strobing synths and hypnotic bass melody give way to a pair of trippy hallucinogenic audio work out in ‘Dialectic A’ and ‘Dialectic B’.

The Alma Construct EP will be released on 26 August through R&S Records.

Lower Spectrum has confidently proved on this EP that he is well and truly ready for the big stage, so please watch this space.
