Hidden Orchestra are set to unleash their sophomore album Archipelago next month and to get us in the mood, Tru Thoughts have released the first single from the LP in the form of double A-side ‘Vorka/Spoken’.
The quartet’s new work sees the continuation of their soundtrack-themed cinematic style, with ‘Vorka’ making excellent use of a musical saw with layers of cello and a chunky break forming the backbone of the hypnotic groove.
‘Spoken’ treads a somewhat murkier ground with dirty beats, luscious trumpet riffs and field recordings, all contributing to the evocative and experimental nature of the track.
With such a strong single, it’s safe to say expectations are high for the full-length release.
