Eat a Bag of Mix: Vivian Gauntlett

Friday, April 26th, 2013

Eat a Bag of Mix is the name of a feature here on life is noise where we get a DJ, musician, producer, industry figure or just someone with good taste in fucked-up and weird music to give us a mix of music that has influenced them, or tunes that are currently rocking their world.

This week, we’re checking in with Vivian Gauntlett. Viv works as a bike courier during the day, but come night time all he wants to do is dance. This fuelled his love for music and made him want to try make others move as well. Early in 2013 Viv and Henry Sims started throwing parties as part of the Untitled Collective.

Come check out the next one at The Bird on May the 8th!

Eat a Bag of Mix is the name of a feature here on life is noise where we get a DJ, musician, producer, industry figure or just someone with good taste in fucked-up and weird music to give us a mix of music that has influenced them, or tunes that are currently rocking their world.

Sleepyhead is Cale Herbert, a 20-something Perth DJ, who continues to self-sabotage by playing weird pop music and rap when he should be playing dance music and vice-versa. He started DJing as an elaborate scheme to get girls, but ended up falling in love with DJing instead. The endeavour has so far taken him from playing empty 8pm dance-floors to playing loose Canadian house parties, a mysterious Bayswater warehouse known only as “Unit 9”, and numerous Perth institutions, supporting some of his favourite artists and DJ’s along the way. As of writing, he still hasn’t gotten any girls from DJing.
