A Different View showing at Revelation Film Festival

Wednesday, June 9th, 2021

Comprising of four commissioned films from filmmaker and sound artist pairings from around the globe, ‘A Different View’ has been selected as part of the 2021 Revelation Perth International Film Festival program.

Devised by Tura New Music in collaboration with curator and author Jack Sargeant, these works were commissioned in 2020 specifically for online delivery as part of the Tura Adapts commissioning projects and consists of a quartet of film/sound partnerships that explore the theme of the Anthropocene.

The digital works include:

• Dream of April by James Newitt and Sonya Holowell (with Jonathan Holowell, keyboard), 2020, [12:26]
• Asynchronous View by Lawrence English and Emma Northey, 2020 [12:37]
• Look Down and Find It by Julian Day and Lori Felker, 2020 [13:07]
• Reciprocity by Rachael Dease and Dan Browne, 2020 [17:21]

The selection of composers and filmmakers was an organic process with none of the individuals working together previously. Pairing together composers and experimental filmmakers, A Different View sought to produce new and previously unconsidered creative allegiances that would challenge and inspire both artists and audiences.

This special event screening as part of this year’s Revelation Film Festival is titled A Different View Plus and includes an additional film, Folding City directed by Tyler Hubby.
